Abstract EN

This research argues that NATO would sustain its existence despite its recent crisis.

That is because it is a temporary crisis similar to many others NATO has come over throughout its history; and that there is no fundamental structural change in the international order.

However, it is worth noting that Turkish-NATO relations are to be determined according to the new circumstances.

It can be said that Turkey is the first to be affected by this crisis and the first to give a coherent and sound reaction.

Turkey shifted its foreign strategy into a strategy based on cooperation with other international players without withdrawing from NATO.

In fact, after implementing the multi-alliance strategy, Turkey became a more attractive partner for other international players.

Consequently, it gained greater autonomy in security and foreign policy sectors, something that is expected to continue on the short and medium run.
