This study dealt with the political developments in Cambodia from the independence of 1953 until 1970, during which Cambodia witnessed important internal and external political developments that greatly contributed to shaping its political future.

After Cambodia gained its full independence from France in 1953, The study focused on the policy of Cambodia during the Sihanouk era and how to adopt a foreign policy based on the principle of neutrality in an effort to preserve the independence of Cambodia, with reference to the position of the United States American policy of this policy, and then focused on the internal policy of Sihanouk, which was the elimination of the opponents of the politicians and the various negatives and means that ultimately managed to take absolute control of Cambodia's internal and external policy, but due to the political confusion of Sihanouk as well as the deterioration of internal and external conditions led to the fall of his rule 1970
