The large oil operations and the the high increase in the crude oil production in Iraq has begun in 2004, were accompanied with huge quantities of associated gas, most of this gas burning by these operations which led to very large quantities of wasted oil and gas.
Accordingly level of pollution caused an increase in the environmental damage.
Hence this effect quality of life of Iraqi people in the absence of Legal legislation that limits the environmental pollution in Iraq The Iraqi environment suffered greatly from oil and gas operations, resulting in large pollution of various elements of the environment (water, air and soil), through the drilling of oil wells, whether exploratory or productive and the consequent water, paints, acids and various chemicals.
As well as the environmental pollution caused by th burning of natural gas associated with oil, and environmental pollution caused by old Iraqi refineries that lack modern technology.
