The trend towards mental illness is considered an important issue in modern societies because it indicates the ability of the normal people to show their affection, respect, appreciation or lack of appreciation for the mentally ill and their acceptance in society and coexistence with them, because this psychological patient may lead to the departure of many friends and relatives and even parents Of it, knowing that the trend towards mental illness is the readiness of selfsufficiency acquired by the individual from the surrounding environment towards psychological illness in a positive or negative, and therefore the current study aimed to detect the level of trend towards mental illness among students of Mustansiriya University, The measure of the trend towards psychological illness (as a tool) for the current research, which is in the final form of (24) positive and negative, has been constructed after the presentation of the scale and its three paragraphs and fields, on a group of experts and specialists in education, psychology and mental health.

The statistical analysis of 400 students was randomly selected from the basic education and engineering colleges.

Various statistical methods were used.

The discriminant force of all scales was extracted using the method of the two extremes.The results of the test became two ways, the method of retesting, and the equation of Alpha Kronbach, as well as the researcher to extract some statistical indicators such as arithmetic mean, mediator and vein and the standard deviation and the extent and spacing and spacing of the sample of the research on the scale of the trend towards mental illness, And the overall research sample has a decrease in the degree of trend towards mental illness, and the sample of male students have a positive trend higher than the sample of females, and that the sample of human specialization have a positive trend higherThe study recommended the inclusion in the curricula of psychology and sociology of topics that promote the positive trend towards psychological illness, and holding scientific meetings and seminars between specialists in education, psychology, mental health and university students to develop their positive role in caring for the psychological patient.

A similar study on the trend toward mental illness and its relation to other variables such as anxiety, motivation and adaptation, and a similar study between the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Mustansiriya and compare its results with the results of the current study.
