Addressing the phenomenon of violence in Muslim societies, also known as extremism and terrorism in international media and politics, hinges first and foremost on an understanding of the Islamic doctrinal, intellectual and moral system, based on the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah.

Islam has a consistent position on the subject, as it rejects all that is associated with violence under all its forms.

In all cases involving the explanation of the concepts, notions and meanings of jihad, abomination, war and aggression, the Holy Quran, the Prophet›s Hadith and Muslim scholars have always emphasized that the use of violence to kill lives, damage property and destroy crops and cattle is rejected by all religions, civilizations and human values.

As a collective responsibility, the best way for combating terrorism is by preserving the strength and cohesion of societies through an intellectual revision highlighting the values of middle stance in educational curricula, in order to counter all foreign attempts to sow the seeds of strife and discord, and correcting false beliefs through dialogue and the promotion of the best practices in society
