Abstract EN

The study aimed at recognizing the role of social networks in the promotion of the cultural identity from the point of view of the Palestinian universities students, The study used the descriptive analytical method.

A questionnaire of (40) clause was applied on a sample chosen randomly which consisted of (573) male and female students from Alazhar + Alaqsa universities students in Gaza through the second semester, 2014/2015.

Actually the results showed that the Palestinian students use social networks on a permanent basis with a percentage of (88.3%) , and Facebook is the most used with a percentage of (75.1%), Then Twitter as a percentage of (15%) , and followed by YouTube as a percentage of (5.2%) , and sky and a percentage of (1.8%), finally the Blogs and a percentage of (1.8%).

The results showed that the evaluation of the role of social networks in assessing our cultural identity from the point of view of university students came moderately as percentage of (60.36%).

As The results showed that there is statistically significant differences in the evaluating of the role of the social networks in the promotion of our cultural identity which attributed to academic differences for university students who are on level (III/IV) , and there is no statistically significant differences on in assessing the role of social networks in strengthening cultural identity in favor of variables (sex, University).

The study has provided some recommendations.
