Abstract EN

Dove is considered one of the most widespread animals in different environments, and it is susceptible to infection with many types of parasites, including cestodas in the digestion system.

This research conducted a study, from both the quantitative and modal points of view, concerning spreading, abundance, and contribution.

This study was conducted to determine the percentage of infection with cestodas in the digestion system in doves in Aleppo.

The research included a study of many factors; age, gender, and season of the year, and 80 specimens of doves were brought from different areas of Aleppo City in the period between 1/6/2015 and 30/5/2016.

Cestodas have been detected by inspection of the digestion system of the doves with an infection rate of 18.75% in 15 specimens.

A species of cestodas, Raillietina, of three types, was determined, all found in the small intestines, R.

tetragona (53%), R.

ecchinobothrida (33%), and R.

cesticillus (13%).

The infection rate for males was (14.81), while in females was (23.08).

Adults were infected by a rate of (72%), while that rate was less than (28%) for the broods.

This means that the spreading of cestodas in adults is larger than in the broods.

The abundance of infection with cestodas was somewhere between low (1 - 4) with a number of specimens (7), and a rate of 46.66%, medium (5 - 10) a number of specimens (5), and a rate of 33%, high (more than 10) in one specimen, with a rate of (20%).

The individual infection rate with cestodas was (80%) and the total rate was (20%) in the infected doves.
