أثر الوساطة المالية على النمو الاقتصادي في الجزائر : دراسة قياسية (1980-2016)‎

Abstract EN

This paper aims to examine the impact of financial intermediation on economic growth for the case of Algeria over the period 1980-2016 using the methodology of cointegration, the vector error correction model (VECM) and the causality test of Granger.

The study found that there is a cointegration relationship between the development of financial intermediation activity and the economic growth rate and the macroeconomic variables included in the model, The study also found causal relationships between the different variables of the model.

The result indicate that there is a significant negative effect of development of financial intermediation activity on economic growth rate in the long run, so the role of the Algerian’s banks in the economy have not efficience, the results also show that the trade openness has a significant positive impact on economic growth in the long run.
