Abstract EN

Imam Al-Dahlawi is one of the prominent scholars in the field of Hadith Purposes and its holistic, quantitative and specific aspects.

His book Hujjat Allah al-Baligha Fi ‘Ilm Asrar al-Hadith is an encyclopedic work in the area of Hadith Purposes.

For him, the purposes of hadith are four: purity, modesty )ikhbat(, tolerance, and justice.

Al-Dahlawi established the qualitative approach to Shari’a purposes in a number of hadith areas.

He referred to 1200 prophetic hadiths and investigated the specific purposes in many of them.

His concept of purposes has been characterized by comprehensiveness because, according to him, they lead to happiness in this life and the afterlife; whereas other scholars of hadith purposes tended to focus on the five necessities which are mainly related to worldly aspects.

Imam Al-Dahlawi managed to establish an instructive theory in the field of purposes on the basis of prophetic hadiths.
