موقف الإمام ابن باديس من الديمقراطية كوسيلة من وسائل الإصلاح السياسي : دراسة نقدية في ضوء أحكام الفقه السياسي الإسلامي

Abstract EN

This study discusses the issue of democracy as conceived of by Imam Abdulhamid Ibn Badis and his attitude towards democracy as a means of political reform: a critical study according to Islamic political fiqh.

This issue is handled through exploration of the nature of his dealing with democracy in his call for reform.

A number of his talks about democracy and his calls for using some of its principles were reported, in addition to his argumentative reference to the French law that advocates the separation of religion and state as well as the separation of the political and the social.

Here, one must link these texts to other texts where he called for using and invoking Shari’a, so that one can do justice to the Imam.

Many of his writings show his total adherence to Qur’an and Sunna as the basis for reform, and his use of the concepts of democracy was simply to claim rights that France pretended to have come to achieve but never achieved.

He called through democracy for equality that doesn’t clash with Shari’a.

He also called for the freedom of opinion and thought and for confronting tyranny, in addition to demanding to allow people to decide their own fate, choose their way of life, and put legislations that match their own values and religion
