Abstract EN

Economists have stressed that human capital, especially education, is one of the most important factors driving economic growth, because many studies have shown this in a number of countries, including the study of Schultz and the study of Denison.

The objective of this paper is to study the causal relationship between educationand economic growth in Algeria during the period 1980-2016, based on a recent method of testing the granger causality provided by toda yamamoto and based on the VAR model.

The results of the study were the Absence of the causal relationship between economic growth, expenditure on education, and enrollment in higher education.
