Abstract EN

The oath of office has become an obligation in some jobs in contemporary life, especially those jobs that retain great importance for the lives of people.

After the employee fulfils all the job requirements, s/he must swear an oath to be sincere and fully committed to professional ethics in the course of his work, and if s/he violates any of his/her commitments the result will be a deterrent and appropriate punishment.

This paper studies the issue of the oath of office in Islamic jurisprudence through discussion of its definition, its juridical adaptation, its legal status in Shari’a, and the effects of its violation.

The researchers recommended the application of the oath of office to all professions that are directly related to people’s lives, reputations and money, in addition to taking the necessary preventive measures to strengthen and consolidate the values and ethics of the profession.
