Abstract EN
The purpose of this research is to study the interpretation of the Qur’anic verse where Prophet Lot (Peace Be upon Him) said: “O my people, here are my daughters”.
The research then draws on the scholars’ different interpretations of this statement, discusses their arguments, and weighs between them, using the method of comparative exegesis.
Scholars of Islam said different things about this verse, such as: Prophet Lot meant either the women of his people, or his real daughters, or he just wanted to drive them away and avoid commitment.
On the basis of textual evidence and rational analysis, the researcher concluded that Lot meant the women of his people, as he considers himself their father.
Therefore, the study recommends recognizing the importance of the comparative approach in presenting statements, showing their agreement and disagreement then choosing the most convincing ones.
