Abstract EN

We aim through this research to assess the performance of the Algerian tourism sector, based on the analysis of a set of adopted indicators in the global tourism and travel sector competitiveness report of 2017, represented by the total number of tourists, tourism revenues ,the share of the tourism sector in GDP and employment, and the overall competitiveness index for the sector, and compare them with the same indicators for a group of arab countries ,this is in order to determine the effectiveness of the policies and efforts of the Algerian state to promote this sector, and then identify the incapability in those policies and programs, as well as the problems hindering their application and the prosperity of the tourism sector, to this end the concept and dimensions of tourism and their measurement indicators have been analyzed , the tourism components of Algeria were also discussed with the tourism components of the group of countries studied, and then analyze the performance of this sector according to indicators of tourism performance in Algeria, and then a comprehensive assessment of the performance of this sector and identify obstacles and ways to overcome them.
