Abstract EN
Protection of natural ecosystems and dune fixation in the Mhamid El Ghizlane region (Middle Draa, Morocco) The harshness of the climate in the the Middle Draa region combined to the strong anthropogenic pressure lead to degradation of natural ecosystems of Acacia raddiana and Tamarix aphylla.
As consequences, we note biodiversity erosion and sand move.
This degradation is manifested with acuity and Sands deposits invade different infrastructures such as : Palm trees, cities, irrigation system and roads.
Our work in the area of Mhamid Elghizlane, deals with the presentation of the strategy and approaches related to sand dunes fixation through mechanical and biological techniques in one hand, and in the other hand, it suggests some recommendations to improve the success rate of biological interventions aiming at the restoration of the Saharan ecosystems.
It is the result of an analysis of the current situation including the assessment of the extent of the phenomenon of sand move and its manifestation forms through interpretation of the “orthophotoplans”.
Besides, the field visits allow the completing and the updating of the mapping documents, the measurement of the sand dune height formations and assessment in-situ the past interventions related to sand fixation.
