Abstract EN

This study focuses on acknowledging the role of Saudi Arabian families in developing social capital as a part of Vision 2030 through studying the following: 1.

Determining the dimensions of social capital that are related to Saudi Arabian family members .

2.

Identifying the level of awareness of social capital among Saudi Arabian family members.

3.

Determining the role of Saudi Arabian family members in developing social capital .

4.

Studying some of the social characteristics for the individual subjects of this study.

5.

Studying the correlation between the social and financial characteristics and the level of awareness of social capital among Saudi Arabian family members.

The subjects of this study were 170 Saudi Arabian families in the first semester of the year 1438-1439 H (2017-2018) the results were as follows:  The dimensions of social capital related to Saudi families are shaped by the level of organized communication and interaction among members of society, as well as raising the efficiency of social networking to increase the level of support among its members, and finally increasing the level of trust between members of society through honesty, commitment to obligations, and performance of rights and duties.

 The role of Saudi Arabian families in raising social capital is to build the values of sharing and efficiency in social networking on both formal and informal levels, that is by encouraging family members to participate in civil organizations and voluntary work.

Another factor is being aware of the rights and duties and making sure to adhere to them which will increase the level of trust and strengthen bonds between members of society.

The final factor is ensuring positive interaction between social networking parties on both formal and informal levels.

 The study found that the level of awareness of social capital and its concepts and dimensions in Saudi Arabian family members is moderate to high.

 The study also found that the level of awareness of social capital and its concepts and dimensions increases in correlation with the education and economic standing.

 The percentage of impact on the level of awareness of social capital and its concepts and dimensions varies across the factors.

The level of education is considered the most impactful factor at a rate of 76.6%, followed by work at a rate of 67.7%, and lastly, the monthly income at a rate of 62.1%.

 There is a positive correlation between the level of awareness of social capital and its concepts and dimensions and the role of family members in developing the social capital: the higher the awareness, the more the role of family members in developing the social capital increases.
