Abstract EN

The current study aims to explore the mental health of a sample of divorced women in Halabja\ Iraq and restore psychological balance to them.

The study also aims at identifying the psychological effects of divorce on divorced women, especially those related to cases of divorce, such as depression, anxiety, inferiority, guilt, alienation and schizophrenia.

The study involved (76) divorced women in Halabja governorate.

In terms of the methodology of the study, the researcher used the descriptive causal comparative method.

The results of this study have shown that divorce itself is a major cause of the mental health problems of divorcees.

The results also showed that there are significant differences in the level of mental health of divorcees due to age variables, the establishment of children after divorce, the standard of living, the scientific qualification of divorcees and divorcees’ residence after divorce.

The results also show that the Islamic religious commitment among the sample of the study is a major factor in establishing mental health and its dimensions among divorcees.

The study recommended a set of recommendations that may contribute to the guidance of the divorced women regarding their mental health.
