Abstract EN

The urba growth is considered one of the significant geographical phenomena which many of the cities around the world have witnessed ever since the industrial revolution.

The cities witnessed a great increase in the number of its population along with a great expansion of the city itself.

In Al- Qadyssieya province, an increase in the urban growth has taken place throughout the last few years of the previous decade (The Twentieth Century) as the population doubled in each of the province’s cities, contrastively.

Therefore, the study in hand tackled the issue of urban growth at two of the major cities of Qadyssieya in order to perform a comparative study between them in terms of foundation dates, population, the use of land in them (the urban growth) and the other factors that affected the difference in that growth.

They are the cities of Hamzeh and Afak, which are different in terms of foundation and the urban growth factors of each of them varied, which ultimately caused a distinction between the two cities in terms of area and population in the different stages of its growth until 2016.
