During the Medieval era, dwellers of Maghreb and Andalusia celebrated feasts (religion festivals) and events.

Muslim communities see the prophet’s birthday as an event worthy of praise.

Such an anniversary bears a great significance in the hearts of Maghrebians and Andalusians.

It is considered as a means to express and show their heartily love and respect to their prophet (peace and blessing be upon him).

Nevertheless, a considerable number of fatwas appear through which jurists and religious scholars view the celebration of birthdays as contradictory to Islamic law.

As a matter of fact, jurists differ in whether it is admitting or forbidding.
