Abstract EN

This study aimed at knowing the degree of the degree of availability of learning competencies in the social studies textbooks for the eighth grade in the framework of implementation of quality of curricula for UNRWA in Jordan.

An analytical descriptive method was used in this study.

The instrument used to collect data was a checklist of learning competencies in the framework of quality at the UNRWA, consisting of (27) items distributed into five domains: critical and creative thinking, communication (reading and writing), cooperation, constructive learning, and citizenship.

Then validity and reliability of the instrument was assured.

Results showed that learning competencies were in the following order in the National Education textbook: critical and creative thinking came first with a percentage of 23.63%, second was communication (reading and writing) with a percentage of 22.80%, citizenship came third with a percentage of 21.43%, cooperation with a percentage of 17.59% was fourth, and last and fifth came the constructive learning with a percentage of 13.46%.In Geography textbook the competencies were in the following order: critical and creative thinking came first with a percentage of 36.095% followed by communication (reading and writing) with a percentage of 34.85%, third was constructive learning with a percentage of 14.52%, citizenship came fourth with a percentage of 9.12%, and finally came the cooperation.

In history textbook, these competencies came in the following order: critical and creative thinking came first with a percentage of 41.64%, communication (reading and writing) with a percentage of 24.90%, third was constructive learning with a percentage of 20.82%, fourth was citizenship with a percentage of 11.43%, fifth and last was cooperation with a percentage of 1.23%.

The study concluded with several recommendations
