Abstract EN

This article deals with an important issue in the field of Language learning, the issue of acquisition of the mother tongue in the child.

It reviewed the most important intellectual trends on the subject: the structural approach in psychology represented by the Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget and the innate tendency in linguistics represented by the American linguistics Noam Chomsky.

This article attempted to stand at the most important points that distinguished each theory from the other one and adopted it in interpreting the acquisition of language and determining the mechanisms of each theory to seek to indicate the differences between the two theories.
