Abstract EN
Applying the Principles of Total Quality Management to Colleges of Physical Education in Jordan This study aimed at exploring the applicability of total quality management (TQM) principles to colleges of physical education in Jordan.
In addition, it aimed at investigating the differences in the opinions of the faculty members about implementing TQM principles according to educational level, academic rank, years of experience, and university from which the faculty member was graduated.
Seventy-two faculty members participated in this study.
They completed a 48-item questionnaire developed by Al-Musawi (2003).
The psychometric properties of this instrument were examined using tests of reliability and validity.
Means, standard deviations, percentages, t-test, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to answer the study questions.
The results showed that the degree of implementing TQM principles in colleges of physical education was generally high.
Specifically, preparing TQM requirements, decision making and community service, and enhancing the teaching-learning process were highly implemented, whereas developing human resources was moderately implemented.
Moreover, the findings showed that there were no significant differences (α ≤ .05) in implementing TQM principles due to the variables of educational level, academic rank, years of experience, and university of graduation.
The study recommended adopting total quality management and applying its principles in the colleges of physical education in order to improve the educational and administrative processes and develop them to achieve the goals in the best way.
