Abstract EN

This research tries to understand how Man is represented in Western media through analyzing the most important media theories that have epistemological base.

Depending on media content alone will not allow to understand the motives behind such a representation and to fix it.

The approach used in this research would better present the human image in Western media thought and reasons to present it this way.

This work has found a consistency between what has been achieved through the analysis and what has been depicted in the media.

Media theories are organized in three groups: linear representative communication, interactive expressive communication, and reciprocal confusing communication.

Each of these groups present human being in a specific way, ranging from the supernatural shining star to vulgar and accursed human by publicity, violence, or sex, or postmodernism, which completely destroys humanness.
