Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the subjective, family and social reasons of recidivism from the point of view of female inmates as well to reveal the presence of statistically significant differences between the subjective, family and social reasons attributed to (inmates' marital status, age, parents' marital status and income).

The study's sample consisted of 84 female inmates who committed more than one crime and prisoned at Juwaida Correction and Rehabilitation Centre.

The study results showed that the most important subjective reasons that drive women to repeat criminal behaviour were feelings of injustice, oppression and mistreatment by others due to their first imprisonment and lack of respect.

The most important family reasons were the everlasting tension among family members, poverty and the needs for money.

Meanwhile the most social factors drive women to reiteration crimes were discard acceptances them by social members, disability to find jobs in government sectors, the bad reputation and feeling rejecting and expulsion in their societies.

Results also showed exist of statistical significance differences in the subjective and family reasons, the differences were in favour of women who have lost their parents.
