Abstract EN

This study aims to assess liberalization process of the Algerian banking sector and to open the way for foreign investment.

During 2001 - 2015, and how this experience succeeded to achieve the desired objectives which is the development of the banking industry in Algeria, through the benefit getting from the experiences and potential of foreign investment banks (foreign banks) and establishing a competitive atmosphere in the banking environment.

We found that despite the provision of legislative environment for this investment inside the algerian banking sector.

Also, despite its presence in more than three times the number of public banks, foreign banks, its contributing to the financing of the economy and the development of banking activity still weak.

Therefore, we recommend that a clear strategy should be putted to interest in this investment and understands its problems and concerns, recognizes its role in the Algerian banking sector, and requires political will to support this investment so that it can play its role and benefit from it.
