Abstract EN

This paper aims to review the concept of financial and banking inclusion from the perspective of the Arab Central Banks and the relevant regional bodies, and to identify the barriers and obstacles that prevent achieving great progress in expanding Islamic financial inclusion in the Arab economies.

This paper also uses the World Bank’s Global Financial Inclusion (Global Findex) database on a country basis; to find out in detail the reality of the banking and financial inclusion in Arab economies, bridging the gap between supply and demand for financial products.

Finally, the paper presents suggestions for the Arab Central Banks to develop national strategies for financial and banking inclusion that aims at enhancing the participation of all segments of population in the formal financial sector in a fair, transparent and responsible manner.
