This paper deals with the legal Islamic principle Masalih Mursala and its role in the provisions of contemporary Islamic issues.

it examines this legal principle as a fertile legislative base to approach the contemporary developments of Islamic jurisprudence.

the paper sought to root this principle with reference to its legislative origin without going into detailed contemporary jurisprudential issues.

it indicated that, through its legitimate application, many political, economic, cultural and social developments can be addressed, which demonstrates the comprehensiveness and flexibility of Islamic legislation.

however, the paper insisted that this principle should be tackled properly with an extreme awareness of its limitation.

at the end, the paper emphasized the observation of the temporal and spatial conditions in devising Maslahi judgments, with reference to the changing ruling-conditions and its understanding and application.
