Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to clarify the solidarity role of the Islamic Waqf in achieving sustainable development, starting by exploring the problem of poverty and sustainable development from an Islamic and conventional perspective, and then indicating how can Waqf institutions contribute in achieving comprehensive human resource development based on solidarity and justice, through the study of the reality of Waqf in Annaba city in eastern Algeria.

The study concluded that the Islamic Waqf system in the Annaba city can actually contribute to the reduction of poverty and creating employment opportunities.

However, it still needs a lot of efforts to activate its role again as an engine for the overall development.
