Abstract EN

This paperis an attempt to give a clearoverview about the handcraftactivity, whichwasbased on the rationalistic exploitation of the availablenaturalresources by the craftsmen, in the Central Maghreb during the period AH12-15.

In order to shed light on the industry as well as the social and economicorganizationatthat time, I have exploited documents and oldmanuscriptsrelated to the subjectmatterat hand.

These latter helped me to establish the relationshipbetween the importance of the naturalresources of the Central Maghreb and the structures as well as conditions of the ‘scientific’ and ‘technological’ applications in use atthat time.

I willdemonstrate how thesenaturalresourcessupplied – and stillsupply – the local and even the national industry.

Finally, I will show how wealthwascreatedfrom the transformation of the mineralresources (gold, silver, iron, copper…), the naturalresources (forests, medicinal plants, textile plants...), and the livestockintohandcraftedgoods, products and even services.
