Abstract EN

The White Sheikh novel is one of the most famous works of Sheikh Dr.

Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi.

I chose this historical novel owing to its closeness to artistic narration.

The goal declared by the writer was to provide a text that lends itself to filmic representation.

This text assumed an artistic shape in its presentation of the historical scene.

It is also a text of great significance despite its small size, in addition to being open to many possibilities and guesses.

The objective of this research is to analyze the novel by focusing on two problems: (1) an attempt to reveal the vision of the writer and his declared as well as undeclared goals; (2) examination of the technical composition of this novel by clarifying its most important artistic and stylistic properties, with an emphasis on the thresholds of the text, namely the title and the linguistic aspects of narration and dialogue with reference to time and space.

It was also useful to identify the literary genre to which this novel belongs.
