Abstract EN

This reading analyzes a narrative folktale by Abi Al-Qasim Al-Tanbori compiled by Ibn-Hajeh Al-Hamwi in Lessons Fruits in Lectures.

This reading uses two basic perspectives: first, a perspective that endeavourers to establish the concept of fantasy in light of a theoretical dimension that underlines the significance of fantasy in the modern critical text as used and adopted by a number of critics and theorists such as Kathryn Hume, T.E.

Apter, and Tzvetan Todorov …etc.

The second one is an empirical perspective that aims to favor the functional and symmetrical dimensions Al-Tanbori’s tale contains, described as an example of narrative communication, in which we see consecutive narrative stories, such as ALTanbori and publicizing culture, as well as the publicized cultural journey: authority and comradeship, the cultural passage between obsession and resistance, and the denial culture of deception.

The significance of this study lies in its emphasis on the central role of folkloric narrative in being able to conceive the cultural implications that yield the exotic and the sublime, which can also carry existential issues and problematics centred on human conflict, controversies of life and death, and universal vision.
