Abstract EN

The present study aimed at investigating the efficacy of cognitive counseling program in reducing the level of future anxiety and modifying the antisocial behavior among a sample of adolescents in Irbid Governorate.

The study sample consisted of (28) students in the secondary stage, The students were randomly chosen and distributed into experimental and control groups with (14) students each.

A future anxiety scale and antisocial behavior scale to measure the dependent variables, were administered on the tow groups as a pre, post and a three-month follow-up.

The Results revealed significant differences between the experimental group and control group according to the two scales at the post test in favor of the experimental group.

In addition to that, the members of the experimental group maintained their improvement on future anxiety scale only when the follow-up measurement was implemented; on the contrary, they did not keep this improvement on the antisocial behavior scale.

recommendations for further studies about teenagers problems in high school to understand the causes and to develop appropriate treatment programs are included, as well as to teach the philosophy and principles of cognitive therapy in the school curricula
