Quran commentary discourse is a discourse over another discourse, as it investigates in the objectives and meanings of the Quranic discourse.

It sheds light on its objectives and persuade the reader to accept them.

Hence, the commentator of the Quran considers both the text structure of the Quran and the different related contexts.

In this persuasive process appears the effectiveness of some language structures, called in this work “ the argumentative forms”, which add a persuasive value to the informative one and strengthens the argumentative position that the commentator takes guiding his language towards specific objectives.

The present work, entitled “The argumentative value of the negative form in Quran commentary discourse” Ibn Achour’s Quran commentary as an example, explores this aspect.
