Abstract EN

This research aims to uncover the reality of parental participation in early intervention programs from the perspective of workers in The centers of early intervention in The provinces of Damascus , Tartous, Latakia, Homs, Aon a sample of (85)specialist.

To achieve the objectives of the study a questinnaire was designed.

Consisted of the following dimensions:( forms of Parental participation, the benefits of Parental participation, obstacles to Parental participation) the research reached the following results : participation is exchange 1-The more frequent forms of Parental of information with the specialist attending school meeting, Parental participation in extracurricular activities, the less frequent forms are training the child in the house on the skills which the development of the child requires, private meeting to train the child, participation on the development of individual educational program.

2- The more useful benefits of Parental participation from the perspective of workers in the centers of early intervention are; improving the process of communication between specialists and family, providing important information about child development, increasing parent s ability to deal with child.

increasing the child, ability to disseminate skills.

modifying ideas about the ability of parents to care for the child.

3- The most important obstacles to Parental participation sarted from most important to least are :stress, the far distance of the center for family home, important as follows: parents inability to participate, parents believe that the specialists is responsible for the child care, being ashamed of the child s disability, busy daily work , the futility of services provided to children, the inability of parent to help the chil d, ignorance of the importance of Parental participation, the inability of parents to deal with specialists.
