Abstract EN

Slurring is a sonic phenomenon the purpose of which is to achieve proportionality and sound symmetry and thus the inclination towards the facilitation and mitigation of pronunciation.

There exiSt different types of slurring, which in turn vary according to the letters involved (the mutant and or the merged letters).

As for its function, it is worth mentioning that its sonic performance is undeniably related to its phonetic significance.

The forms of this significance in Surah el mai'da didn’t Stray out of two cases: either as its name indicates; since slurring typically implies merging and mixing, or relating to the physiological characteristics of the phenomenon itself (with or without “ghona”; and “ghona” is the Arabic term for a nasal sound usually produced when merging two letters or so.) Moreover, as it is known, producing the “ghona” sound takes a specific amount of time, which suggests many meanings such as, the length, extension, breadth, permanence, inclusiveness, etc., ju& as in the case of incomplete slurring.

The absence of “ghona”, however, indicates different meanings namely: separation, in&antaneity, immediacy, urgency, as well as the coalescence of the two slurred letters due to the lack of any timed distance in between, and that is the case with yet other types of slurring like, complete slurring, major and minor slurring, homogeneous slurring, convergent slurring, etc.
