Abstract EN

This study aims at understanding the importance of achieving interpretive resemblance between the source text and the target text during the process of translation.

In fact, the concept of interpretive resemblance has its root in Relevance Theory which is developed by Dan Sperber and Deirdre Wilson (1986), and then introduced to the field of translation by Ernst Gutt (1991).

According to Relevance Theory, to achieve a successful translation, the translator should produce a target text that its interpretation resembles the interpretation of the source text in those assumptions that make it relevant to the target reader.

These assumptions should be conveyed without requiring the target reader to make unnecessary processing efforts.
