Abstract EN

The research presents a comprehensive study on the real health services in Salahuddin governorate based on available data and relevant maps.

In order to evaluate the efficiency of these health services , a comparison is made between the numbers of hospitals , medical beds, public health centers, physicians presently available in the governorate and their corresponding numbers given by the local and international standards Geographic Information System (GIS) is used for carrying out the analysis and to evaluate the spatial distribution of health centers through a field of spatial distributions in Arc Gis.

In these analyses , standard distance , average nearest neighbour distance, mean center and central feature are used to establish the buffer and service accessibility Results of analysis indicate low health service efficiency in the governorate.

To meet the required international health standards, the necessary numbers of hospitals, medical beds, public health centers and physicians in Salahuddin governorate are pointed out.

Furthermore , the future need for such numbers for the target years 2015, 2020 and 2030 are also calculated based on a public growth criterion Important conclusions are drawn from this investigation, and recommendations are given to help raising the efficiency of the health services in Salahuddin governorate.
