The areas of the Dir (Piedmont) are very important areas in the equilibrium of the space system, because of its geographical position as a link between the high peaks and areas of the plain and the Dir Atlas Béni Mellal due to its strategic location between the southern mid-Atlas Mountains and the Tadla Plain.

It has played very important roles in the history of the region in particular, and Morocco in general, but the transformation of Dir in recent decades has grown from a central zone able to develop to a secondary zone, and knows a real crisis, that facilitated the expulsion of its population towards the irrigated lands.
