Abstract EN

The development issue occupy as inclusive issue a special importance in the economies of different countries, because of its intrinsic and qualitative effects on the various aspects of economic and social life, and on the Palestinian side the development is gaining its pivotal importance as being contribute to support the resistance of the people and represent the cornerstone to achieve an independent economy.

The purpose of this study is to identify the most important elements and obstacles to the process of development in the economy of the Gaza Strip, and then put a developmental strategy that is capable to deal with the different effects of the blockade and pave the way for reaching a balanced national economy, that’s through the descriptive analytical approach.

The study found that the Palestinian development process lacked necessary conditions mainly, the lack of control by the authority over most of its resources and its limited powers in the formulation of economic policies, and that the occupation is of the main constraints to the development process.

As well as, the Gaza Strip has conferred to achieve acceptable rates of development, and that the private sector alongside the government sector represents one of the most important sectors that constitute an aspect for the success of development efforts.

The study recommended the need to speed up of ending and removing the blockade on the Gaza Strip, and that the economic development priorities must be determined in light of the challenges surrounding it , in addition to being part of the mechanisms to get rid of the hegemony, domination and dictates of the occupation, and that this strategy should aim to remove structural distortions that the Palestinian economy suffers from, and the need to improve the investment environment and take necessary measurement to encourage the private sector to invest
