Abstract EN

Through this study we seek to use semiotics, and its procedural tools that give the researcher the possibility to monitor the meanings, significances and symbols hidden in the text, and enable him to dive into its depths, and help him to study human behavior and what shapes it in terms of actions, conducts, rituals, social aspects, intellectual and cultural patterns.

To carry out this semantic analysis we have chosen the story collection "Illusions not Fulfilled" by the author Tayeb Atawi, in order to decrypt their symbols and connotations, and to deduce the multiple and varied narrative functions that shape the personalities of this story group.
