The characteristics of the Islamic and Jewish character in Libya were similar in their general characteristics to a great extent, and their behavior and their prevailing beliefs regarding magic and defect and complete faith in evil spirits, demons, night ghosts, talismans and veils.

This similarity in the fundamental characteristics of both Jewish and Islamic personalities has led to its unification in its established doctrine of supernatural powers, evil eye, and expressions of envy that correspond exactly to each other.

The Jews also paid the evil eye by number five, and this practice still exists within the Libyan society.
