Abstract EN

The research aims to study irony of situation in feminist dialogue as presented by author Wafaa Elgazaly in her book " Kalam Setat".The author preferred to use colloquial Arabic in studying those real life feminist dialogue ; to present them as they were mentioned by the speaker in daily life, to suit the ironic style of the author, and to familiarize with the readership from different social classes.

The research is divided into two main parts: The first part is theoretical and is concerned with the concept of paradox ; its different definitions and translations by linguists, philosophers, rhetoricans.

Also kinds of paradox ; its typology as identified by D.C.

Muecke and Wayne C.

Booth , and modern studies on its types .The second part is an applied study on types of feminist irony of situation mentioned in Wafaa Elgazaly's book " Kalam Setat", as specified by D.C.Muecke.

The D.C.

Muecke typology of paradox includes five types: (1) Irony of simple Incongruity,(2) Irony of Events,(3)Dramatic Irony,(4) Irony of Self-Betrayal,(5) Irony of Dilemma.

The research finally presents remarks and results reached in the study: mainly that Irony of Self-Betrayal is the most commonly used type in the study case, thus revealing the ignorance of the speaker and shows the negative values that intruded the Egyptian society.
