Abstract EN

The Arab geographic thought deteriorate after it had flourished within the period be-tween the ninth and the thirteenth century.

It came to flourish again with the begin¬ning of the recent period of the develop¬ment of scientific geography, and after it got rid of domination of colonization, to share with others all around the world in scientific research, not only in the realm of geographic methodology, but in develop¬ing perfect studies.

The aim is to discover the physical, the cultural or the economic geography component sin the extensive Arab lands.

It is clear that published works lack con-taining thoughts.

They are just borrowersof the existing geography philosophic knowl-edge by means of literal translation.

From here we find the outcome is ambiguous and difficult to understand.

Those references did not try to, professionally, translate or go in depth to present goals and targets that will result in developing a perfect scientific geographic thought that rests on the Euro-pean and American thought and the like.

It is noticed also that although geographic thought is included in geography method¬ology adopted in our universities, it has not resulted in crystalizing distinctive scientif¬ic thought that lets the youth understand geographic thought basics, and hence con¬struct pillars on it that help him, as a ge¬ographer, to shoulder his responsibility to fulfil geographic goals.

At that time it will be based on genuine scientific geographic thought.

We believe that the mistakes in thoughts in Arab world, stem from non-creative thought methodologies.

This defect result¬ed because people do not take care of the theoretic bases, the thing that resulted in confusion in understanding the field of ge¬ography and its goals.

The present study depends on presenting and analyzing results of studying some Ar¬abic publications in geographic thoughts, and from field work, to come out with the best for geography, especially after obtain¬ing some data through questionnaire, per¬sonal and other modern means of commu¬nication.

The targeted people in the present study are the PhD holders in geography specialty.

The thing that encouraged the author to present this study is his aim to show his insight of rectifying geographic thought, from the views he gained through deep experience in teaching geography in several universities.
