Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the quality of the extensional service offered by the agricultural extension system in the study area and determine the correlation between some the independent variables studied and the degree of extensional service offered by the agricultural extension system to potato crop growers and to find out farmer's information sources and suggestion to improve the quality.

The study was conducted in Matrouh Governorate; systematic random sample was selected from growers (145 respondents) .Data were collected by questionnaire through personal interviews, Pearson simple correlation was used .Percentages coefficient to data analysis .

The most important results study were: - 58% of the respondents mentioned that the agricultural extension system performed extension services in a moderate and high standard terms of potato practices at the study area.

- 60.7% of the respondents had moderate and high level of their knowledge as a result of the extensional services demonstrated by the agricultural extension system concerning the recommendations of potato practices.

- 73.1% of the respondents have changed their practice to a low to moderate level, and 51% of the respondents mentioned that the agricultural extension system provides them with extension services in the studied items for potato crop cultivation in the study area in medium to high quality.

- There was a constant significant correlation at 0.01 significance level between these variables: age, standard of education, degree of participation in local organizations, degree of trend towards extension activities, degree of trend towards agricultural innovations, level of reorganization the information sources, and the standard of extension service quality rendered by the agricultural extension system to the respondents in the field of potato crop cultivation in the study area.

-There was a constant significant correlation at 0.05 significant level between the following variables: the cultivated area with potato crop and the standard of quality of the extensional services delivered by the agricultural extension system to the respondents concerning growing potato at the study area.

- There was no correlation between the tribal leadership and the level of quality of the extension services presented to the respondents by the agricultural extension system on growing potato crop.

- The respondents mentioned seven sources from which they obtain their information mainly on the cultivation process of the potato crop, which was the source of the parents and neighbors by 88%.

-The respondents also proposed six proposals from their point of view to improve the quality of extension service provided by the agricultural extension system in the field of potato crop cultivation in the study area.
