يعتبر موضوع الطب الشرعي حلقة وصل بين الطب و القانون، فهو يهتم بدراسة العلاقة القريبة أو البعيدة التي يمكن أن توجد ما بين الوقائع الطبية و النصوص القانونية، كما يعتبر من بين من أحد أهم المواضيع و التخصصات الطبية المميزة، و لأجل هذه الأهمية جاءت هذه الدراسة لتبيان الدور الذي يلعبه الطبيب الشرعي في البحث عن الحقيقة و تسخيرها لخدمة العدالة و كشف الستار عن المجرمين الفعليين و أسباب و طريقة ارتكاب الجرائم.
