Abstract EN

Governance has emerged in recent years as synonymous of effective management and good administration of public sector.

This concept has received wide attention from international organizations, experts and academics, and has been Appeared in the economic sector to encompass virtually all areas of activities and services, and in all sectors.

This study attempts to highlight the effects of applying the principles of governance, as transparency, accountability, participation and the role of the boards to improving the image of public libraries in Algeria.

And therefore, improving their performance and ensuring the quality of their services by taking the main library of public reading in the state of Tebessa as a model of study.

Adopting a quantitative approach use analytical descriptive method.

A questionnaire was used to measure the extent to which the principles of governance were applied to the library staff, and the standard tool LibQual+® was used to assess performance in the public library under study.
