The exchange rate is the link in international economic relations, as it is the most important element in directing foreign transactions of countries.

It reflects the economic situation of any country internally and externally.

The exchange rate stability reflects the integrity of the economic fundamentals and the fiscal and monetary policies adopted and its ability to respond to external shocks which can be exposed to any economy.

In addition to the fact that the policy of the exchange rate, especially the policy of reduction, which is still the focus of discussion and debate between economists and decision makers of the implications of their application, which led us to highlight the problem that revolves around the impact of exchange rate change (and check as a devaluation of the local currency) on the economic variables and the macroeconomic balance, using descriptive and analytical approach that is consistent with such topics, using a series of books, academic studies and specialized periodicals The importance of reducing the exchange rate through its contribution to achieving the macroeconomic objectives, which is the internal and external economic balance, where the internal balance is the stability of domestic prices, in addition to achieving a level of economic growth acceptable, while the external balance is the balance of payments balance, which appears in various state trade exchanges.

This study concluded to series of results, foremost among which was that the devaluation of the Algerian dinar was an inevitable dictated by internal conditions (external imbalance, undervalued currency) and external conditions, especially the pressures of international organizations.

The purpose is to affect the trade balance with both exports and imports insofar as the objective was to correct the exchange rate itself, thereby achieving the overall conversion potential of the dinar and the trend towards exchange rate liberalization
