Abstract EN

The energy sector has witnessed an extensive argument about the use of nonconventional energetic sources.

This is reflected in the tendency of countries to exploit their potential of these energetic alternatives.

This paper aims to shed the light on the Algerian opinion towards the exploitation of its Shale gas's reserves as an energetic alternative to the conventional natural gas, between economic determinism and environmental risks.

The results indicated that the Algerian opinion is wobbled between the support which leads to the inevitability of the production of shale gas, and the opposition, especially the popular one, which is associated with the environmental fears that judged shale gas as inappropriate choice which has pushed Algeria into being reluctant to its adoption and exploitation.
