Abstract EN

This study aimed at recognizing the differences in the personality characteristics which were measured by California Psychological Inventory (CPI) that consisted of (462) items for some vocational groups due to gender and specialty variables.

To achieve this goal, T-test method was used to study of the differences between males and females, one-way analysis of variance method to study the differences among vocational groups based on the performance of samples of doctors, engineers and teachers totaling (195) individuals distributted to ((65 doctors: 32male,33 female),(62 engineers: 32male,30 female), (68 teachers: 33 male, 35 female), in addition to another sample of doctors, engineers and teachers totaling (155) individuals distributed to (73 male, 82 female) for a small psychometric study for the tool of research before using it to study the differences.

The results showed that there were differences between males and females in fourteen scales out of twenty scales which CPI consisted of.

Also the results showed that there were differences among vocational groups in five scales out of twenty scales.

The researcher suggests further studies that focus on the differences among other vocational groups and study effectiveness of CPI to distinguish among different vocational groups due to these variables and others.
