Abstract EN

The study aims at identifying the life skills that must be included in Biology and Environment textbook.

It also aims at recognizing to what extant these skills are included in this book.

To achieve the purpose of this study, an analytical descriptive approach is used.

An analytical tool consisting of five domains is used for analyzing the textbook content.

These domains of life skills are solving problems, time administrating, safety, skills of agricultural biotechnology and critical thinking skills.

These skills contains 28 sub skills.

The findings of the study show that: the percentage of the items of the life skills in the book is 21.97% and it is a weak percentage.

For the five domains of life skills, it is noticed the unbalanced percentages, range between 2,8% and 36.8 % as follows: The safety domain has got 2.8%, the administrating of time has got 8.7%,0 critical thinking domain has got 22.3%, problem solving domain has got 29.4% and agricultural biotechnology domain has got 36.8%.

For the units of the book, the results show unbalanced way in distributing the life skills on the units of the book.

Unit four has got the least percentage 15.75 %, Unit three 19.78 %, Unit two 25.82 % and unit one has got the highest percentage which is 38.64%.

On the basis of the findings, the following suggestions are drawn out: 1- Developing the biology and environment curricula in light of the needs for the life skills.

2- Concentrating on improving some of the skills of life
